Home prices are - by far - the biggest impediment to having more children among people I know. These various subsidies help a bit, but until we re-align home prices with incomes I suspect birthrates will continue to fall. I see little interest in DC to address the problem.

When I was a single parent in the 80’s, childcare was my second highest expense every month, (housing was higher). It was a huge relief when my kids were finally old enough for public kindergarten. Now I watch my kids struggle with childcare—especially during the pandemic. I’m hopeful Biden’s plans can get through Congress.
