Average amount spent on a live tree seems way above the average price of a tree which might be $100 in 2022. What am I missing?

On the “tendency for imported customs to be naturalized and made palatable to the national story..”:

In Denmark everyone agrees that we have a common Danish Christmas tradition around the (German) Christmas tree. But nobody agrees on what it is. Duck or ham? And which songs? When a young couple gets married and spends Christmas with one's parents, it is a true exercise in integration.

Perhaps the apotheosis of "Anglo-American Christmas" is the transformation of Saint Nicholas into the rotund, red-suited Santa Claus popularized in Coca Cola ads of the early 1930s.
